Advancing sustainable building envelopes. Join the MEZeroENVELOPES!

On 29 May 2026, #Leitat invites you to the MEZeroE Workshop, taking place at @DFactory Barcelona.

This in-person event will bring together experts from across the construction and innovation ecosystem to explore the latest developments in building envelope technologies. The workshop will cover key topics such as sustainable design, BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics), and advanced glazed façades focused on daylight and comfort.

How do new façade and building‑envelope solutions move from an idea to something that profitably works on real buildings?

The MEZeroE Final Conference closes five years of work on testing and supporting innovation in the building‑envelope sector. The event takes place during REbuild 2026 in Riva del Garda and is organised over two days.

*/ How can innovative façade ideas move from laboratory research to real buildings?

We invite companies and representatives of the construction, energy, and innovation sectors to take part in the Living Lab Tour, organized as part of the Energodom 2025 Conference.

23 October 2025 (Thursday)
15:30–18:00
Cracow University of Technology, ul. Warszawska 24

During the event, we will present the Living Lab created within the international MEZeroE project – a unique research and demonstration space where innovative materials and technologies for building energy efficiency are tested.

On 29 January 2026, the workshop “Innovation paths and strategies for building envelope components and systems”, organised within the European projects H2020 MEZeroE, took place at Klimahouse 2026 in Bolzano.

The workshop brought together companies, researchers and practitioners for a constructive exchange on how to support the transition towards healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient living spaces through innovation in the building envelope.

Take advantage of our testing facilities and services at attractive conditions

On 27 November 2025, the Spanish Construction Technology Platform (PTEC) and the Spanish Photovoltaic Technology Platform (FOTOPLAT) hosted a webinar in which Tecnalia, ITEC, Leitat, and Flexbrick presented the MEZeroE platform and highlighted the work each partner has carried out within the project. The session also featured Nuria Martín (CIEMAT), who explained the current challenges and gaps in the standardisation of Building‑Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV).

Joseba Ormaetxea Orobengoa, from the PV Systems platform at TECNALIA Research & Innovation, presented some of our latest developments within the MEZeroE project during the “BIPV Operational Experience and Reliability” session.
His talk, “Development and application of new extended-stress testing sequences to characterize durability of BIPV modules”, sparked great interest on how advanced testing protocols can improve the long-term reliability of Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) solutions.
